HARRY Potter fans were sent into meltdown on Thursday night as it was revealed that spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is to become a FIVE film series.
The J.K Rowling wizarding epic was originally planned to be a trilogy, with the first film hitting cinemas in November.
However, director David Yates – who oversaw four of the original Potter blockbuster series – revealed it would get two more instalments during a global fan event held across the globe.
London’s location for the event, Cineworld’s IMAX in Leicester Square, saw a surprise appearance from author J.K herself as well as Eddie Redmayne, 34, who plays the new leading role of ‘Magizoologist’ Newt Scamander.
Eddie and David were joined onstage for a Q&A session featuring co-stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler – but the biggest surprise came when fans were treated to an appaearance by J.K Rowling herself.
Over in Los Angeles, Colin Farrell, 40 joined in the conversation, and spoke of his role as Percival Graves via satellite to the live stream that was available to Potterheads all over the world.
Oscar winner Jon Voight, 77, will also be featured in the film as Henry Shaw Sr. – an American ‘no-maj’ (the U.S term in the film for muggles).
During the live broadcast, Jon – who is famed for his more serious roles in Mission Impossible, Hear and Deliverance – revealed his childish side as he admitted he was upset he played a ‘no-maj’ in a magical world.
As promotional posters and trailers for the films have been released, fans have been teased with what to expect in the upcoming fantasy flick.
Relocating to New York, Newt Scamander (who Potter buffs will know wrote the book on magical creatures- literally) finds himself wrapped up in trouble as he is tasked with capturing a series of beasts that have managed to escape him.
But eagle-eyed fans have spotted on movie posters certain signs that indicate we may see a young Albus Dumbledore in the flick as he goes up against Gellert Grindlewald.
In another poster featuring Percival Graves, a necklace with the Deathly Hallows symbol emblazoned on it is also featured.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is released in cinemas on November 18.
