WARNER Brothers have announced that there will be a sequel to J K Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – and it will be with us on November 16, 2018.
The first Fantastic Beasts, which stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, doesn’t open until November but Warner Brothers have confirmed there will be three movies, with the final one expected to come out in November 2020.
Newt Scamander was only briefly mentioned in the Harry Potter books but takes centre stage in the three Fantastic Beasts movies.
The first takes place in 1926, when a number of fantastical creatures escape from a briefcase in New York to threaten the very existence of the wizarding world.
Warner Brothers announced that the second movie “moves deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our heroes have to decide their allegiances.”
The second Fantastic Beasts movie will be directed by David Yates, who donned his director’s cap for the last four Harry Potter movies.
Rowling has suggested previously that Fantastic Beasts would be a trilogy but this is the first official confirmation.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them open on November 18.
